Here are some shots from 3 recent Engagement Shoots. What’s great about the Engagement Session is it’s a wonderful opportunity for me to spend some time with the couple whose wedding I’m going to be photographing. So, we go for a walk, chat, take some pix, get to know each other a bit. So, on the day of the wedding any nervousness the couple (or more usually the guy ) might have about the photos is mitigated and I just seem like another person along for the crazy ride. Anyway, here are some of my faves:

The Wedding of Laura & Trevor

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of photographing Laura & Trevor’s wedding. We started off with only immediate family attending the ceremony in a barn on a piece of land outside of Orillia. God bless the meteorologists for being wrong on so many occasions this summer because they were calling for rain by midday. With threatening clouds overhead we forged ahead and by the time the rain finally arrived we had finished all the pictures. It would have been a big shame not to get the pix up there – lots of wonderful textures and spots. After a lovely catered meal we all got on the limo bus and headed down to Toronto to join about 150 friends and family for the reception at Gossip Restaurant. I’d never been there before. Very chic indeed and the food was fantastic. Overall, an awesome day. Here are some teaser pix:

It’s always extra fun to shoot weddings that arise from a referral because it’s great to see couples whose weddings I’ve previously photographed. This past Friday there were two past couples at the wedding so there were lots of familiar faces – and this extended group of family and friends know how to party. The reception was at the Lake House in Pickering, which is a lovely spot with a marina and waterfront. It was a glorious day for weather and the lighting for the couple shots was perfect. It’s extra fun being a part of mixed weddings when all parties are lovely people and the order of the day is love and friendship and nothing else. We started off at the Hilton Suites Markham (where Nathan and his lads had to jump through some hoops to even get in the room, let alone the many push-ups they ended up doing), then moved on to the Markham Civic Centre. Autumn Wedding: Invitations that Inspire the Warmth of the Season
