Lindsay & Brian’s Wedding at the Ancaster Old Mill

There’s another ‘Old Mill’ and it’s in Ancaster – and Lindsay & Brain were married there last night. The Ancaster Old Mill easily rivals it’s more well known counterpart for beautiful grounds. And the service and food were first class. The whole day was filled with emotion and honesty as two people who obviously love each other deeply came together in matrimony. I was very glad to share in their joy. Here are a few teaser pix from the day:

WELCOME TO BARD’S BLOG

Bard here, the guy behind the lens, behind Livingface Photography, and now... behind the blog.

This blog will be comprised of three types of postings: (1) Recent Portrait sessions with comments and images; (2) Ideas and Advice about Portrait Photography, especially Weddings; (3) Random personal musings about whatever strikes my fancy.

After 10 years in business as a Wedding & Portrait Photographer, I think I have some useful insights into the ins and outs of people photography, and I'm excited to share them with anyone who is interested.

With weddings in particular, I have always enjoyed imparting my experience and observations with both prospective and booked clients. It's interesting and enlightening to be present for most of the day, from the couple getting ready through to the end of the night. I see some of what works and some of what doesn’t, especially when it comes to logistical aspects of the day.

That being said, I don’t have a favourite type of Portrait Photography. Whether it’s Wedding, Maternity, Baby, Kids, Family, People or Event Photography, I just love capturing people at whatever stage and circumstance they find themselves in. Beyond that, I get to meet all kinds of wonderful souls and learn more about myself and the world. And I get to work from home. Pretty cool job.

And working from home and being my own boss means that I get some extra time to pursue my other interests. A healthy balance between the two (which has taken years to work out) keeps me happy and feeds my family.
