Wedding
You might think that after having photographed about 125 weddings that I might be a tad tainted - which happens to some photographers. Fortunately, I continue to love Wedding Photography - enough that I’m still regularly moved during the ceremony. After all, two people in love (hopefully!) are making a commitment to each other in front of their family and friends. That’s pretty awesome. I get to be a part of a joyful occasion - at which I get fed and paid. Not a bad job if you can get it!
Alas, in this day and age of digital photography every Tom, Dick and Harry has become a Wedding Photographer, so buyer must be extra beware. Wedding Photography is a multi-faceted activity that requires the photographer to have much more than the technical skill, which in and off itself is very challenging when you consider that locations and conditions are constantly in flux on a wedding day. Unlike with other kinds of photography a competent Wedding Photographer is able to make quick adjustments and decisions, balancing trying to get the right exposures with not missing the many special moments. So, if you have a limited budget, there are some quality amateur Wedding Photographers out there, but it’s hit and miss. Furthermore, a photographer with technical skill might be a disaster when it comes to his/her temperament. The way the photographer carries themselves, connects with the Bride and Groom and Guests, and deals with difficult situations sets apart the Quality Professional Wedding Photographer - for which there is no substitute if the budget permits.
On a day that can be stressful for all involved, I put forward a calming and confident energy that will help put the bride and groom at ease. My style is unobtrusive, yet comprehensive. The unobtrusive suggests a Photojournalistic Wedding approach in which I’m getting all the important shots without harassing the happy couple. The Comprehensive refers to the fact that Candid Wedding Photography, (aka Photojournalistic Wedding Photography, aka Reportage Wedding Photography), on their own, are not enough. Certain classic shots are important and required. With Candid Wedding Pictures, I capture the moments; with the Traditional Photographs, I get all the important posed family and wedding party and couples shots (you’ll end up appreciating these - and your parents will be happy too). A Reportage Wedding Photographer with a Traditional twist is a great combination. That’s what you get with me.
