Many years ago, I realized that whatever emotion or reaction I’m witnessing through the viewfinder, I end up emulating, both internally and often externally – including for corporate photography.

 

So, for example, when I’m photographing a wedding ceremony and I’m taking an over-the-shoulder shot of the groom, and there are tears in his eyes, I often get tears in my eyes. Of course, this is also because I can feel all the hopes and dreams encapsulated in that moment, for himself, his intended, and for humanity at large.

 

I like humans and I’m expert at being present and paying attention so I can get the shot of that moment. After having shot over 300 weddings, capturing the essence of the day is what comes naturally to me, though that has been honed over a 23-year period. The vast majority of the day is candid photography. That said, it goes without saying that I will also take all the requisite pix that go with the day, including the important posed and the visually stunning ones – as you can see from the gallery below.
